A day in the life of an education, childhood and youth student

Want to know what it's really like to be an education student at Birmingham City University? Naomi shares her experience.

Naomi's story

Naomi has always enjoyed working with children from a young age and knew she wanted to have a career in the early year’s sector. She decided to study the Early Childhood Studies course due to the large variety of career opportunities available to her after studying and the fact that it provides expertise in many areas of early years.

During her time on the course Naomi has had the opportunity to go on three block placements, including at a nursery, children’s centre and primary school. She enjoys going on placement as it allows her to interact with children and put theory into practice.

When Naomi is not studying she is busy acting as a student ambassador for the university, helping out with open days and applicant visit days. Naomi has also had the opportunity to give group lectures to the first year students and also prospective students.
