With 19 years of teaching experience in Birmingham primary schools and working in an International School in Chile, Emma started working at BCU in 2010. She teaches Primary Foreign Language pedagogy and modules in English Primary teaching.

Emma has a Masters in Linguistics in Education and has been involved in a wide range of research, including working with children with English as an additional language. She has been involved in Erasmus projects based on teaching children who attain highly as well as teaching democracy through drama. Emma has worked with partners from Turkey, Greece, Belgium, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and France.

Emma is passionate about developing children’s creativity and resilience to develop into well balanced, happy members of society. As such, she hopes to embed this through her teaching approach, to encourage student teachers to develop into committed, confident and creative teachers.
