Evidence Based Practice in Defence Healthcare

Defence healthcare practitioners must be able to identify what constitutes 'best practice' within the unique environments in which they operate and use this information to inform and expand the distinct body of military knowledge. The Evidence Based Practice module aims to give you the resources to make that contribution. The skills of literature searching, retrieval and evaluation are fundamental to all academic enquiries and as such the knowledge and skills acquired through this module will have continuing impact on academic success.

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment will be conducted throughout this module specifically following your self-appraisal exercise and critical appraisal of the literature exercise. You will also be able to ask for feedback following tutorials.

Summative Assessment

You are required to write a 4000-word assignment in which you critically appraise a published research article relating to clinical practice. To support your discussion, you will be required to search, retrieve and critically evaluate a range of literature which supports your critical appraisal. (A comprehensive assignment brief will be made available to students during induction).
