Enjoy this unique performance from City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with Michael Seal (conductor), Julian Lloyd Webber (conductor) and Eduardo Vassallo (cello).

Mozart Marriage of Figaro Overture
Haydn Cello Concerto No.1 in C major
Beethoven Symphony No.3 in E flat major, Op.55 ‘Eroica’

Through their Partnership in Orchestral Development, Birmingham Conservatoire and the CBSO enjoy what is arguably the closest relationship of any Conservatoire and professional orchestra in the UK. This special City of Sounds concert celebrates 25 years of the two organisations working together to ensure Birmingham as a centre for excellence in musical training and education.

A clear success story of such training and partnerships is CBSO Associate Conductor Michael Seal, also a former Birmingham Conservatoire student. Michael will lead the orchestra in two rousing well-known favourites - Mozart's bustling Marriage of Figaro Overture and Beethoven's 'heroic' Eroica Symphony.

In-between, Conservatoire Principal Julian Lloyd Webber will take to the stage as guest conductor, alongside CBSO principal cellist and Conservatoire tutor Eduardo Vassallo. The Haydn Cello Concerto is an expert demonstration of flowing interactions between orchestra and soloist and will demand a virtuosic performance from the Vassallo.
