The music industry is a kaleidoscope of different opportunities and today’s musician is likely to pursue a portfolio career, which can include undertaking work as a teacher or community musician. Working in partnership with the Music Service in Birmingham, Conservatoire students are provided with opportunities to develop teaching skills through observing and working alongside professional practitioners in one-to-one, small group and whole class instrumental lessons. Indeed, many students have then gone on to work permanently for the music service as graduates, demonstrating the importance of this partnership in enabling future generations of children and young people in Birmingham to develop their musical skills.

Birmingham Conservatoire is also proud to act as one of the host venues for the Music Service’s annual programme of concerts, to showcase the talents of its young people. The Music Service here presents their two final celebratory gala concerts on a stage that has provided a platform for many of Birmingham’s young musicians over the last 30 years.

This concert will evoke a grand Last Night of the Proms style affair.
