Paul Turner

Paul is currently Section Principal Timpanist with the BBC Philharmonic, a post he has held for 19 years, during which he has played numerous concerts, broadcasts, commercial recordings and tours. He has worked with many notable conductors, composers and soloists during this time including former principal conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier.

Prior to this and at the age of 22, he was appointed Section Principal timpanist of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, a post he held for seven years. He has also played as Guest Principal with many of the UK's finest orchestras including BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Halle and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. A former teacher at Trinity Laban, Paul is very much looking forward to teaching here at the Conservatoire.
