Student Life

The Business School Student Council was set up to capture your voice and make you feel part of our future. Here’s how it can help you ...

Have your say

We want to know what you think. If you have a query, a suggestion or a concern about the School, this is the place to raise it. It means that we get your valuable feedback on a regular basis, enabling us to respond to issues straight away and act quickly to make changes and improvements. For instance, the Business School Council came up with our popular International Travel Scholarships, an innovative scheme that helps students get funding for charitable work overseas.

Raise money and hone your skills

It’s a fantastic ground for you to practice some of your skills, create enjoyable events for all our students and raise money for a good cause at the same time. The Council’s members organise student social events – trips to Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, for example – using their business skills to negotiate discounts with the parks and then donating those savings to charity. Each year they raise around £1,000 for organisations such as the Young Leaders Initiative in Nechells.

The Council also helps with the promotion of encouraging students and staff to recycle, mentor fellow students, help organise student award ceremonies and host extra-curricular activities to support networking, job opportunities, career development and skill enhancement.

So why not join us? It’s a brilliant way to have your say and hone those business skills while you make a valuable contribution.
