Study Trips

We don't just welcome international students to our faculty - we take our students on trips all around the world!

Our International Study Trips are opportunities for students to take in new cultures, meet new people, and get a unique educational experience. Available to both our undergraduate and postgraduate students, they encourage you to make your University journey an international one.

Undergraduate trips

China

Recently, first and second year undergraduate students went to China, on a two week study trip in June to four Chinese provinces. 20 students visited Wuhan, Huai'an, Nanjing and Shanghai on the Eastern side of the country. While there, they also visited three Chinese universities:

  • Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST)
  • Huaiyin Normal University (HNU)
  • Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST)

While visiting these universities, students got to work with local students on projects, before taking in the sights of the cities, culminating in Shanghai, the second most populous city in China, and the "showpiece" of the booming Chinese economy.

You can check out the brochure for the trip yourself, and see some of the photos the students took below. And make sure you keep on eye out for the next Study Trip!

Lyon, France

Three first year Accounting and Finance students travelled to Lyon to take part in the University International Week 2020 in February 2020. There were 20 students involved in this week from various universities around Europe. The students were hosted by students from Lyon University which allowed them to see the hidden gems of Lyon most people would overlook.

During the week, the students attended classes Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 12.30pm (a very early start!). Following lunch there were a range of timetabled activities including a treasure hunt where the students were sent off alone to get to know the city, a visit to Parc de la tete d’or, Confluence Museum, Olympique Lyonnaise and Laser Quest

On Thursday all students gave a presentation of their university to the other students and the day was finished with a group meal at a local restaurant.

Friday came too quick and it was time for the students to depart, having made lifelong friends and experienced French study, culture and food.

Postgraduate trips

In April 2017, Masters level students were given the chance to go to Germany, as part of a multi-disciplinary team working on a challenge case study. 20 students from across Business, Law and Social Sciences flew out to Frankfurt, before getting a train to Karlsruhe.

While there, the students visited a refugee centre, the European Parliament, and a local brewery, working on different tasks designed to get everyone, regardless of their discipline, working together.

You can check out their extensive schedule for yourself. Details on the next Masters Study Trip will be coming soon.
