In today’s competitive jobs market, any extra experience you have will help you to stand out from the crowd. More and more employers will expect you to have substantial workplace experience, and an industrial placement is a fantastic way for you to get this experience.
On placement, you can put the theory you have learnt on your course into practice and develop skills relevant to your future career.
An industrial placement can have a direct effect on your career - many of our students return as permanent employees to the company where they undertook their placement after they graduate.
A placement will improve your salary prospects - our placement students earn on average eight per cent more in their first job than students who did not undertake a placement. Undertaking a placement year can also help to improve your degree result.
There are a range of placement opportunities open to you. Over the last few years our students have undertaken sandwich year placements in a variety of roles related to their degree, with both small local companies and international organisations. We pride ourselves on the quality of the placements our students undertake and the level of professional development offered by a year in industry.
Our students have gone on placement to companies including: Kier Construction, Savills, Ladbrokes Coral, Skanska, Knight Frank, BAM, Stepnell, Turner & Townsend, Keepmoat, the Shaylor Group and Arcadis.
