About the School of Fashion & Textiles

We are one of the largest and most successful providers of fashion, textiles and interior design education in the world.

Our origins can be traced back to the middle of the 19th century. Today, we are renowned as a centre for design innovation, industry engagement and research.

Our academic and technical support staff help students to develop their practical skills to a professional level and we offer an extensive range of contemporary workshop facilities.

Our academic programmes address the design, managerial and communication aspects of the fashion, textile and interior design industries. In recent years we have introduced studies that reflect the changing nature of the global design industries and career opportunities for students. Fashion communication, costume design and managerial studies all represent recent directions in our growing portfolio of courses.

As well as an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses, we also offer conventional and practice-based PhD study.
