About the School of Art
The School of Art operates from two extraordinary and distinctive campuses at Margaret Street and Bournville.
In choosing to join one of the art-based courses at BIAD, you will become a valued member of one of the most exciting and diverse research centres in the country.
We offer well-established courses such as Foundation in Art and Design, BA (Hons) Visual Arts by Negotiated Study, BA (Hons) Fine Art, MA Fine Art and MA Art and Education. More recently, we have developed courses such as MA Art, Health and Wellbeing; MA Contemporary Curatorial Practices; MA Art Practice and Education; and MA Digital Art in Performance.
Our suite of courses reflects the diverse interests of the academic staff and research community within the School of Art. They are located at Margaret Street in the city centre (BA (Hons) Fine Art and MA courses) and our Bournville site (Foundation and BA (Hons) Visual Arts). Their development of professional links regionally, nationally and internationally will enhance your educational experience.
A high percentage of our graduates progress to further study, a career as a professional artist or other art-related employment sequels.
The courses are designed to help you to extend your creative and intellectual potential, and will progressively stretch your abilities in order to meet the high practical and academic standards expected at undergraduate and master's level.
You will be supported by a high-profile group of artists/practitioners, theorists, academics and professionals in a number of related fields, who will enable you to realise your full potential.
In the last QAA inspection, courses within the School of Art contributed to BIAD's accreditation as a Centre of Excellence.
