This year the University celebrates a very special milestone -
125 years of art at Margaret Street
The School of Art building, more widely known as ‘Margaret Street’, opened in 1885 and has been providing opportunities for students to study art and design ever since.
Today the building is still home to Birmingham City University’s School of Art which continues to provide a stimulating, creative and contemporary environment for students at all levels of higher arts education. It offers a comprehensive art programme ranging from a pre-degree foundation course, to two undergraduate BA courses, an Arts-Based Master’s Programme with nine awards, a residency Research Fellowship and Higher Research Degrees delivered between its original home at Margaret Street and its Bournville campus.
To celebrate this significant milestone in the history of the School of Art a special programme of events has been drawn up. It includes an exhibition, alumni reception and symposium offering a wide range of stakeholders the opportunity to be part of the celebration.
