Located at the heart of the City North Campus, students at the School of Law take advantage of unique learning facilities with virtual learning and a fully equipped mock court room

Over its forty year history, the school has established both a strong reputation in legal education and close links with local and international partners.

The School’s reputation for excellence in vocationally led learning has seen numerous commendations. For example, the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s highest grade of ‘Commendable Practise’ in all six areas of quality criteria was awarded to the School’s Legal Practice course.

School of Social Sciences

School of Social Sciences

Situated at the centre of the City North Campus, The School of Social Sciences encompasses courses such as Sociology, Housing, Psychology and Criminology.

Not only does the School boast some of the highest student satisfaction ratings – Sociology recently achieved a student satisfaction score of 93%, it also lays claim to Britain’s ‘leading criminologist’ Professor David Wilson.

After nearly twenty years, the School’s professional housing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes have grown to being the region’s largest provider of housing education.

Recently awarded ‘Grade One: Outstanding’ by Ofsted, The School of Early Years continues to provide excellence in the field of primary school teacher training.

Conveniently located within the City North Campus, the school provides a range of courses for those who wish to teach and work with young children. Its close links to urban schools and multi-ethnic communities ensure that lecturers are up to date with current practice, and graduates are prepared for some of the most challenging and rewarding roles in the profession.

The School of Secondary and Post-Compulsory Education and Training

As well as been awarded “Grade One: Outstanding” by Ofsted, The School of Secondary and Post-Compulsory Education and Training also enjoys “category A grade” from the Training and Development Agency.

Situated within the City North Campus, the school offers for both trainee and serving teachers courses ranging from undergraduate to PhD study levels. So successful were the class of 2008, that every graduating student secured a teaching post.
