The second Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Festival will take place between 14 and 16 November 2022. Applications are welcomed from duos, trios and quartets with an average age of 28 or under, as long as the ensemble includes a single piano. All applicants will be heard.
Entry fee = £50 per musician.

The first prize will offer considerable opportunities and career support to the winning ensemble:
- £2500
- Debut recital at Wigmore Hall in London
- Debut recording for Resonus Classics
- Mentorship from a leading chamber artists for one year
- Further engagements at St Georges Bristol, Wye Valley Music and THSH, Birmingham.

Preliminary auditions will take place on Friday 24 June 2022. Six ensembles will be invited to take place in the Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Festival in November 2022. These ensembles will each give a 45-minute recital as part of the Festival programme. Three ensembles will be chosen to proceed to the grand final. All of the selected ensembles will also take part in masterclasses. The competition jury, listed below, will also perform as part of the Festival programme.

- Daniel Tong (London Bridge Trio, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Festival Director)
“The keyboard has been the bedrock of domestic music-making for centuries, evolving into the well-loved piano chamber music that we continue to play. It was the instrument of Mozart, Beethoven, Robert Schumann, Mendelssohn, Brahms and so many other composers who are central to our core repertoire.
"In 2022 we are also more aware than ever that it was also the instrument of Hensel, Clara Schumann, Farrenc, Price and Beach. Today’s composers still write as regularly as ever for ensembles that include piano.
"We welcome applications from any young ensembles who love this music and have the ambition to play it with depth of understanding and individual flair.”
